- Only in-stock models are available for purchase currently. We add more hammock inventory weekly. If you make a complete selection of an out-of-stock item, checking all boxes including color, suspension, etc, you should see a blue box down below the add-to-cart button that allows you to enter an email address for an email notification when that color/model is added back to inventory. If every color within a variation is out of stock, then the box may not appear unfortunately and you’d have to just check back but using the email notice is the best option if you are able. We recommend signing up for a couple of different color choices of ultralight backpacking hammocks to ensure faster notification.
- Made from our DreamTex fabric… built just for hammocks, it combines a traditional ripstop weave with a bias-directional diamond grid to create a fabric that has an incredibly comfortable cotton-like texture. Add in a fantastic strength to weight ratio and just the right amount of stretch and you have an ideal hammock fabric. 40 denier 1.6 osy (Heavyweight Double layers use two layers of DreamTex, Lightweight Double layers use Dreamtex for the outer layer and lightweight 15d nylon for the inner layer.
- Updated second generation design
- 11′ long x 62″ wide hammock body, 112″ Ridgeline. Reversible Asymmetric end-gathered design

- Reversible top allows you to remove and “flip the net” to create a mirror-image or “reverse” lay configuration if desired…Head left, Head right, the choice is yours.
- All tops incorporate a 7″ wide strip of fabric or netting to raise the canopy’s edge height above your face so that all of the hammock body’s width is useable, allowing you to lay right to the edge of the zipper while still having plenty of headroom. This gives the effect of wider body fabric but at a lighter weight for an ultralight backpacking hammock.

Note: The weight ratings listed below are based on comfort, not absolute tensile strength. For instance the single layer is rated for a max of 250 lbs because users above that weight will experience more stretch than is ideal in their ultralight backpacking hammock and so would be more comfortable in something with more support (like the Heavyweight double). The comfort ratings can be pushed somewhat but you will be trading in comfort in doing so.
Single Layer Blackbird XLC:
Max comfort range : up to 250 lbs
Max load: 350 lbs
Hammock weight (without suspension): 1lb 5.75oz
Fabric: 40D Nylon
Lightweight Double Blackbird XLC:
Max comfort range: up to 275 lbs
Max load: 350 lbs
Hammock weight (without suspension): 1lb 11.75oz
Fabric: 40D Nylon Outer, 15d Nylon Inner
Heavyweight Double Blackbird XLC:
Max comfort range: up to 400 lbs
Max load: 400 lbs
Hammock weight (without suspension): 2lb 1.75oz
Fabric: 40D Nylon (x2)
Listed weights do include net-top and stuffsac, but not the suspension.
You loosen the ridgeline by loosening the ultralight backpacking hammock suspension and you tighten the ridgeline by tightening the hammock suspension. The ridgeline should be neither super tight nor drooping, and this will be achieved when your suspension straps run at about a 30 deg angle. Tightening/loosening the suspension will also raise/lower the ultralight backpacking hammock, so you may need to raise/lower the straps on the tree trunk to dial in the final hammock height which should be about chair height.
This refers to the weight of the fabric only, the heavyweight fabric being a heavier, stronger, more durable fabric than the lightweight fabric. It does not refer to the weight or weight capacity of the ultralight backpacking hammock itself. For instance a single layer 1.7 is made of the heavier more durable fabric, but since it is a single layer it is lighter than the lightweight double layer. So single layer vs. double layer has as much effect on hammock weight and weight capacity as fabric type does. All weight capacity and product weight info is listed in the collapsible product details boxes to the right of the product description.
For more information on which one is right for you, see our hammocking 101 page.
Generally any standard-sized backpacking pad (20″ or 25″ width) will work regardless of thickness and length, but in general the largest commercial camping pad that will be appropriate will be the size of the Exped downmat 9 LW, which is aprox. 77″x25″x3.5″; Also keep in mind that in an ultralight backpacking hammock you need insulation only, no padding is needed so extra thick air mattresses are not necessary; R-value and warmth are what are really important. Also keep in mind that if you are considering buying a new pad to use with one of our end-gathered hammocks (like the Blackbird or XLC), that an underquilt will be much more comfortable and a lot less hassle so you should seriously consider putting that money towards an underquilt instead.
Continuous loops: This option is not a useable suspension by itself. It comes only with small Amsteel loops on the end of the ultralight backpacking hammock that act as anchor points for the attachment of just about any suspension type. Suspension weight: 7g
Webbing w/Buckles: This is a popular suspension option, it includes a pair of 12′ polyester straps with simple to use buckles, it is intended to be used with a pair of carabiners. Easy to use and adjust, almost no learning curve. Suspension weight: 6.7oz, one pair of Warbonnet carabiners: 1.75oz
Whoopies w/Dynaweave Straps: Standard 6′ Amsteel whoopie slings hitched directly to the end of your ultralight backpacking hammock, and 6′ Dynaweave tree straps (loop at each end). Our Dynaweave webbing is made from UHMWPE fiber which has the highest strength to weight ratio of any synthetic fiber available, the result is a full strength webbing that is much thinner and compact at 1/3 the weight of standard polyester webbing. Suspension weight: 2.35oz, One pair of Warbonnet FishHooks: 6g.
Becket suspension: Our longest suspension option (and lightest per foot), with 6′ of extra reach compared to our Buckle or Whoopie suspensions. Ultralight backpacking hammock comes with Amsteel continuous loops hitched on the ends and a pair of 15′ Dynaweave straps (loop at one end). Suspension weight: 2.5oz, One pair of Warbonnet FishHooks: 6g.
The topcover(not to be confused with a topquilt which is similar to a sleeping bag) is an optional add-on accessory that goes with the XLC ultralight backpacking hammock. It does not replace a tarp, although it is water resistant like a sleeping bag or windbreaker is so it will shed light moisture. It is made of breathable fabric and comes with two built in vents in order to avoid condensation issues. The benefit of the Topcover is that it will trap heat much better than mosquito netting and will generally raise the interior hammock temperature to about 15deg above the outside ambient air temperature so it is very popular among those that do a lot of cold weather camping.
We have several different ultralight backpacking hammock models each having different features, a breakdown of the differences can be found partway down our Hammock 101 page.
All of our ultralight backpacking hammocks come with the stuff sack included and your choice of suspension. Recommended items are listed on each hammock page.

This hammock is no joke. Best comfort and features ever. I tried using a pad, but buy the Wookiee underquilt. SO much more comfortable. I love the storage shelf too. The Becket suspension is light and simple. Love it!

It’s a good hammock but upon first use one of the zippers on the bug net broke off
3 stars for the hammock without the bug net though

Just got my black bird xlc. I am a little heavier at about 230. So I went with the heavy weight double and I am not disappointed at all. The construction is on point and made extremely well. I have spent hours with it hanging inside because it’s a bit to hot in south Louisiana right now but will be getting out as soon as it starts cooling off. Thank you for all the help and service Alex .

First hammock – and love it. I’m tall, (6’4″) and the xlc feels roomy compared to many 1 person tents. Very satisfied with the overall quality, looks (Autumn orange looks awesome) AND comfort!

This is a great hammock! I will be honest and say it took me some time to figure out the right way to hang it. But once I got it figured out it has been my go to hammock. I use it for hunting and backpacking trips. I also have a RIDGERUNNER and like the XLC better for side sleeping. This is a great piece of gear! Thank you Warbonnet for helping me get better sleep in the back country than I do at home!
Zach Livermont (verified owner) –
I have had this hammock for about a year. I think gathered end hammocks have more of a learning curve than a bridge hammock. It took me a while to figure out how to hang it and get the ridgeline tension right. But now that I have figured it out I love it. I used it backpacking and hunting all year. I paired it with a wookie underquilt and I slept great. This is a great product with really good customer service.

Great product, caring customer service. This is a model of business that more companies need to strive for!
I am 6’4” 230lbs, I own a blackbird xlc and I fit in it just great even at my height I can lay flat.
I truly sleep better in my blackbird xlc than I do in my own bed, I joke with my wife that I am going to get rid of our bed and buy her an xlc and hang them both in our room HA!
There are no pressure points, it is literally the most comfortable I have ever slept. At home I wake up out of my normal bed and it takes me a bit to loosen up and get moving, when I wake up after a night in my blackbird xlc I am not sore at all and no tightness!
If you are even thinking about getting this hammock I can help… JUST GET IT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Top-Notch gear from Top-Notch people! We trek all over the KY wilderness with steep hills and rough terrain. We count grams and rely on our gear, so it must be both durable and light! That’s exactly what you get from Warbonnet Outdoors!

I go to the BWCA annually and sleep in a hammock. I have used a variety of hammocks. I have taken my Blackbird XLC on two separate trips now. Best hammock BY FAR. Best sleep I have ever gotten in the BWCA. It truly provides a flat lay. The extra room in the footbox is amazing. I love the shock cord attachments that stretches out the hammock for you. The mosquito net is easy and smooth to unzip. The shelf is actually super convenient. No more sleeping in my hammock with stuff strewn about whilst I’m sleeping. It all fits nicely in that little shelf and I can easily find it in the morning (or middle of the night). Extremely easy to set-up and take down. Definitely worth the price tag. Can’t recommend this enough.

I’m in my second season with my XLC and I have never slept better in the backcountry (or on the back porch). It far exceeds my experience with camp mats, and even cots.
I’m 6’1″, 190, and have some minor but annoying shoulder and back injuries from a lifetime of sports and working in the woods. At home on a conventional mattress, I toss and turn throughout the night due to my shoulders falling asleep, and I wake up with a tight back. A camp mat is 10x worse.
This hammock was therefore a revelation. It sets up easy and I sleep like a log, no shoulders falling asleep, back not as tight in the a.m. In terms of the lay, it’s fantastic for back sleepers and left side sleepers…right side works well too, in a loose fetal position. I’ll sometimes slide in a ridgerest for a flatter lay shoulder-to-shoulder, but even without one there’s no shoulder squeeze.
Comfort aside, this hammock has opened up new territory for me while canoe camping. Where I paddle, tent sites are often marginal. Now I only need a couple of cooperative trees and I’m good.
If you’re new to hammock sleeping, picture a hammock as somewhere on the continuum between a mattress, a lay-z-boy recliner, and a cocoon. A mattress is flat but your body is not. I’ve found hammocks better for cradling and supporting your body’s contours. It’s not ideal to be totally flat…it’s ideal to be supported when your limbs and back are at rest. Get one, and get a wookie UQ when you do.

I bought my first XLC double 8 or so years ago. I had to order the winter cover with it (not complaining) because they had to be cut at the same time.
Such an awesome hammock. I used it so often I bought another one a year or so later “just in case.”
I’ve gotten near a decade of use out of them and they are still in excellent condition.
Not even a hole in the bugnet.
I’m even using the original whoopies even though I bought backups.
I’ve bought at least 10 different hammocks in the time I’ve had my XLC.
I’ve given away most of the others and really only use a kid sized hammock for chilling or napping a short while on day hikes.
Extremely comfortable, quick to hang, extremely durable, and if you are small like me 5’9″ 135 lbs you can pretty much sleep in any position you want from fetal to sprawled.
You are also supporting an awesome business.
I can’t say enough good things about this hammock or Warbonnet.

The XLC is the last hammock I will ever take backpacking.
More than worth its price, the XLC is very well made, extremely comfortable, and very well thought out/put together, even compared to other major hammock brands.
Using the webbing w/ buckles, I was able to set up the hammock very quickly and easily, and the directions that come with it are very helpful too (didn’t need to go find a YouTube video about it).
It’s lightweight makes it my new go to for backpacking trips- will be looking into more Warbonnet products to compliment this fantastic hammock!
Chris (verified owner) –
I dove into hammock camping head first. Never slept in a hammock before, only sat in a hammock for maybe 5 minutes at a time (your regular rope hammock). I am glad I chose the XLC, so much better than sleeping on the ground. All the components I got with it are also high quality. Such a nice piece of gear. Hope to get a wookie so I can take it winter camping!
Georgina Homrighaus –
I agree with you

What a great hammock, it’s very high quality, comfortable, and lightweight too! I’m very pleased with this purchase, and plan on using it for winter camping this year

Extremely happy with my XLC!
After realizing that hammocking could be a solution that suits my 50 year old back, I did some rather extensive research on the best hammock to get. Rather quickly I understood that the Blackbird XLC is the top dog in the hammock domain. Living in Sweden it would have been good to be able to order from somewhere in the EU to avoid extra shipping / import tax. After some more Googling I realized that was a price I simply had to pay 😉
So now I have spent two nights in it and I can confirm that it was worth it just for those nights… I bought a SuperFly tarp as well which was good as both nights have included rain, the last one actually a thunderstorm, I woke up at 3 am from the thunder and intense rain. I fell asleep again and woke up at 9.45 by a text from my wife. I have NEVER slept past 7 in a tent as the back hurts and the air gets warm / stale etc. And I have many hundreds of tent nights after doing my military service etc. With the Blackbird XLC I can easliely find a very comfortable diagonal position with the head in a position where I can easily peek out – and the “storage section” on the other side is large enough for an impressive amount of stuff that you want to have withing reach / dry. I am 193 cm tall (6’4)
I bought the “webbing w/Buckle” suspension option that works really well. Takes a minute to get it hanging good.
The total delivery time to Sweden was less than a month which is OK in these Covid times. Quick replies to some questions I had regarding the delivery.
An interesting side note – on my first night I “only” slept to 7 as I was woken by a wild boar grunting around near me. Normally when you wake up in a small tent by an animal nearby, you feel rather exposed. It has happended quite some times in the past. In my XLC, one meter above the ground and my knife easily reachable in the storage fold I did not feel exposed at all. There is something quite different sleeping up in the air with the option to quickly peek out and get out if needed. Nice bonus 🙂
Thanks a lot!

I don’t like leave reviews.
I was very hesitant based on the price.
I decided to go for the Double XLC.
Extremely happy with the purchase.
It’s easy to set up and durable.
My first hammock ever. It’s packs a punch. Can’t wait to use it backpacking.
Go for it. It’s worth it! 🙂

Love my xlc. I’ve been using it for a little over 1 year now. I actually slightly damaged it on a recent trip. Contacted Warbonnet. They responded within 20 minutes. Completely eased my mind. Great customer service.

I did my homework and decided to make my first hammock a BLACKBIRD XLC – I’m impressed! Still in a learning curve. but once “plopped” in and situated….it’s SOOO relaxing. And I LOVE how the bug net stays raised up and away from your face. It’s a great choice if your a big person as well. I got the Fern Green – Thanks guys – Glad to be part of the Warbonnet family.

Old XLC Blackbird has better zippers. Twice as robust. The tie outs didn’t ship with the shock cord coming off the loop tie off, which is now attached with cord stops. The stitching still looks good, like the original model. I upgraded to some disappointment.
Warbonnet Outdoors (verified owner) –
If anybody wants an XLC or Eldorado that has the same style of non-removeable net that is on the Origional Blackbird model we can make it that way with a coil zipper. If you want the modular mix and match options of the removeable top then that requires a molded tooth nylon zipper. That is why we switched and those are holding up just fine. I appologise for us forgetting the side tieouts.

Warning do not buy! Quality is crap. Suspension system failed the first time setting up with my 5 foot tall wife in it.!! Again do not buy unless you want to be injured! I have a $30 hammock from amazon it works great.

I absolutely love my XLC! Gear Acquisition Syndrome is real but my Blackbird is not something I’ll ever replace. Warbonnet’s shelf and footbox are brilliant and super useful. I can’t give it up no matter how much it’s (poorly) copied by others, and I didn’t have to pay any extra to get it because it’s built in. I sleep great every time I’m out.
Thank you so much guys for your quality gear and responsive service. 🙂

My favorite hammock. The length, the versatility, the weight, and the functionality of its shelf are big pluses. Great workmanship. The new Dream Tex fabric is worth the upgrade, IMO, but you can’t go wrong either way. Having tried all the suspension options, my favorites are the Dyneema straps, followed closely by the cinch buckles (so easy to use). Whoopie slings are cool, but at least here in the PNW they limit your tree options greatly (shorter straps means only skinnier trees, and the whoopie slings add to the required minimum distance such that you may have to reach WAY up the trees to get a good hang angle/not bottom out. But maybe the best reason to get the XLC is combining it with the Wooki UQ – which for me is far and away the best UQ design on the market – hang the head end, hang the foot end, and you’re done. No middle of the night adjustments, no cold spots. In sum, the XLC and its accessories make for a great camping system!

It took me years to pull the trigger on buying one of these, dont let that be you! Im 6’2″ 215lbs and after 20 years of service in the USMC, mostly as a load bearing animal, I have serious back issues. It kills me to sleep on the ground. I was hesitant to purchase a hammock because of my back and the fact that I’m a side sleeper. After spending several weeks worth of nights, some cold some during peak mosquito season, with the BB XLC I can confidently say that its worth every penny and highly recommend. I have seen my fair share of kit and this is in the top 10%, it goes everywhere with me.

I ordered a Blackbird XLC from the UK. I’m glad I did, because the quality of construction is amazing – as is the design. It’s so much more comfortable than my existing hammocks! In fact, it’s more comfortable than my bed lol. The suspension system ( I went with buckles) is a dream to operate, fast and easy. Amazing job Warbonnet thanks.

What can I say…. Comparing this to my bed at home, no can do…. I sleep like a happy little child in this thing. Going from a 9cm ground mat, and tent, with all the pain that gives you after a short nights sleep. There is no way in… anything, that I am going back, you nailed it with this product. ZZZzzzzz love it, love it

As said in previous reviews, very high quality and a excellent design. I also own an Ultralight backpacker (which is now what I let my friends borrow). The Blackbird XLC can’t be beat in comfort and versatility. My only regret is that I didn’t purchase this product years ago.

Recently purchased a heavy double XLC and couldn’t be happier. I bought this unit to replace a regular BB that was just a little short for my liking. The quality of this unit is second to none. I like that you can remove the bug net and replace with the topcover if you would like. Used it on a recent trip to McAfee Knob and slept like a baby. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a high quality 4 season hammock.

At OUTDOORTREE.org we take off on our motorcycles for multiple day trips cleaning up litter and doing trail maintenance. This makes for some tired guys with sore backs. Since we started taking blackbirds on these trips our backs feel way better and we look forward to going to bed.
I know hanging low makes more since but the little kid in me loves to have the high up tree house feel and I often find myself hanging as high up as I can because its just fun.

This is my 4th WB setup purchase. I typically purchase WB for my grandkids, but my adult son wanted to join our backpacking adventures so I got him the XLC setup. At 6’6″, he’s been using my regular BB just fine, but the XLC offered him a more comfortable experience. He got the newly redesigned XLC, and loves it. I’m a bit jealous, lol, because of all the options he has now. We bought the double layer so on cold nights he can insert a pad without it moving around. Because of his height, tent camping had become a nightmare for him, and he had given up on camping for years. Because of the XLC, he’s rejoined our family outings with great enthusiasm and is enjoying meeting the friendly “hammock crowd.” (I think he’s a bit surprised at all the adventures his mom has been having on the trail all these years! lol) Thanks, WB, for a great product and customer service. Thanks to the friendly hammock campers we meet on the trail and at hangcons.. You are the best! Hammock camping has brought our family much closer together and WB has made that experience all the better (and possible for years to come)! God bless!

These guys are simply the best. The staff were able to send my order before leaving on my next camping trip. They also notified me of some incompatibile items I ordered and helped me correct the order. The service at Warbonnet is second to none. The craftsmanship of Warbonnets gear is simply incredible. My superfly tarp kept myself and gear dry. I’m 6′ and was very comfortable in the Blackbird XLC. I’m glad to be another satisfied Warbonnet

I’m not really a hardcore backpacker but have been getting into it the last few years, pretty much did the tent camping thing until recently. I took a nap in my brother’s eno setup and loved how comfortable I was. I did my research and found my way here and bought the 1.7 double. I used it once, loved it, way more comfortable than the eno and better in general, but got into a accident and had to get shoulder surgery. Buy the time I can go camping again it will be cold…. so I got the 0 degree under/over setup 🙂

Bought my WBBB XLC for a 12 night, 175 mile A T hike. I had never used a hammock before and have to say the XLC worked great. I came home and hung in my basement so I can relax in it. Very pleased.

I have used many hammocks over the past three years developing my hammock camping setup. After many hours spent researching I chose to go with the XLC because of the reputation of the company and the quality of their products. I can say honestly say for the first time in three years I have found the perfect hammock camping setup. This is by far the most comfortable hammock I have ever had the pleasure of using. I never got calve ridge and never felt shoulder squeeze. I only wish I had purchased this in the beginning of buying and trying so many hammocks. I also purchased the Wooki 20 degree to go with it and as I stood back and looked at the design I wondered why no one had thought of doing this before. Absolutely amazing!! Thanks Warbonnet for such great craftsmanship and customer service.

Went to desolation wilderness in Tahoe and I am so glad I ditched my tent and bought this hammock. My trip snuck up on me and I contacted the company to see about getting it shipped out sooner. They made it happen and even reviewed my order to realize I had ordered stuff I didn’t need along with being short in few other things. That ended up saving me while I was up there and was really helpful. Great service!
The only mistake I made was trying to use my sleeping bag with the hammock. The bag kept sliding around and I couldn’t get it zipped up all the way. It got down to 40 at night so I needed it. I’ll be buying a top quilt before I go out again.

I doubt Warbonnet needs yet another glowing review on the BB XLC, but here it is. I got mine in less than a week along with a Mambajamba. They are both fantastic. Great lie. Very useful features. Comfortable and built by people that know hammocks. I am a big boy and I feel comfortable, secure and have plenty of room to stretch out lengthwise and widthwise. What more do you want.

Just used my xlc hammock. WOW! It is totally fabulous in size and comfort compared to my previous hammock. The winter top cover stayed incredibly dry inside compaired to the condensation outside. The fabric quality is second to non. This is a top end hammock. Thank you to Brandon at warbonnet.

I originally purchansed two WB Blackbirds, one for me and one for my then wife. She had back problems that made our camping trips less and less fun for her over the years. We tried thicker backpads, air mattresses and nothing worked.
A friend suggested hammocks. He said that the only reason he can still camp is because he switched to a hammock. After a little research I went with the BB. After the first night I asked my wife how she felt and she said “I haven’t slept this well since I was in my mother’s womb”, I agreed that it was incredibly comfortable. After our divorce she took one of the Blackbirds so I decided to upgrade to the XLC and keep the other Blackbird as an extra for any future camping partners. It was even more comfortable than the original Blackbird because it was more roomy.
As with the original Blackbird, the footbox and shelf are great features. I keep a water bottle, a book and flashlight on the shelf.
My one complaint is the lack of a double zipper, as with the regular Blackbird. I know the single zipper is needed to make the insect net removeable, but removing the net is an uneeded feature for me. The way the regular BB’s net swigs out of the way is just fine with me.
Minor complaint though. Otherwise this is an outstanding hammock. It’s so comfortable sometimes I wish I could get rid of my bed and just hang this in my bedroom. Maybe some day.

The first time a spent the night in any hammock was in the Warbonnet Blackbird that a friend loaned me on an overnight backpacking trip. I dare say I have never slept better in the woods. I am a side and back sleeper and was able to turn with ease, never feeling unstable. And it’s so roomy! I always thought sleeping in a hammock would be like being in a cocoon, but not so in the Blackbird. I never felt confined. My only regret is that I didn’t go to bed earlier!
The storage shelf is perfect for keeping your essentials organized and available through the night. And the footbox is great. I never felt restricted when I stretched out.
I went in a bit of a skeptic, but am amazed at how incredibly comfortable the Blackbird is.
My tent is going to take second place to this new way of sleeping outdoors. I look forward to researching the options and buying my own hammock setup.

The XLC is a wonderfully comfortable and roomy gathered end hammock! The shelf holds everything i throw at it including my glock, headlamp and more…I cannot say enough good things about Brandon’s craftsmanship and customer service…soon to be ordering a wooki

Absolutely love it, quick set up. Even quicker teardown.
I have a permanently dislocated shoulder and was worried if I’d be able to sleep in this hammock. After my first night I had no worries. Slept great.
Also very stable for getting in and out of.
Definetly makes my tent obsolete.

I purchased the XLC in the DBL 1.7 a year ago. I love it. I have trouble sleeping the first night out well no more. It sets up in minutes. I do all my camping and backpacking with my Boy Scout troop. I have lost count on how many times I have used it.
My last camp out it poured rain almost all night, I woke dry. Oh yeah that Alaska weather. Not so much for the tent campers. My tarp was wet on the out side, but dried quickly when I hung it up at home.
The one thing I am going to change is going from straps to whoopie slings.
I will be ordering a few more products from you company soon.
Thank you for making a great product.

This is my 2nd XLC but in DBL 1.7 this time. Have 1.1 DBL Camo XLC already and no complaints!
Just spent 3 weeks in my XLC. Used the winter top cover a couple nights and it does trap in some heat! Love it! Got it with Webbing this time and for my setup its perfect. No shoulder squeeze and very flat lay. I used a foam pad and switched to an insulated self inflating pad several nights with no issues between the layers. Both worked well in 50f weather. Tried an underquilt for the last 2 nights at 45-47f lows. Got to say the UQ is most comfy!
I am a restless side sleeper and had no problems side sleeping on the pads!
Excellet craftsmanship!
Looking forward to taking this on my December trip!
Now I just need to get a 0 degree wookie before then!
Well done Brandon & Crew!

Just took the XLC on its first backpacking trip. While it is a bit heavier than some hammocks, it is super nice. The shelf is awesome, and the design practically forces you to lay the correct way for the most comfort. The pad sleeve worked well with my neo-air xlite, but when I got home I decided to order the brand new wookie underquilt to make it even more comfortable. I use it with the Cloudburst tarp, which is oversized, but I can fit two hammocks comfortably beneath it. Great quality, super comfortable. Best hammock on the market.

I’ve been using a Blackbird XLC for over a year now on all my camping trips, (except one where I shared a tent with someone else – IMO the ONLY downside to hammock camping) and it is heavenly! I was a big skeptic at first of hammock camping. While first learning about this style of camping, I also found that most hammocks on the market might not be comfortable for people with a height of over 6′ (I’m 6’3″) so almost used that as an excuse to not hammock camp with my friend on a big canoe trip, which was 2 weeks in isolated wilderness. Then, I found this through a series of google searches and online hammock reviews. The XLC is unbelievable luxury to a point which I never thought possible. The built in bugnet kept me protected through swarms of mosquitos in the northwoods of Minnesota. I also recommend the Edge rainfly to go with it. It’s a perfect fit and kept me dry during some serious storms. Several times since I bought it, I’ve considered getting rid of my bed at home and replacing it with my blackbird. Seriously. I went with a Double layer 1.1 XLC and love being able to slide my pad between layers where it will stay put all night and even after getting in and out of the hammock repeatedly. I now have the 1.7 oz fabric. Both the 1.1 and the 1.7 are great and all I’m sure have the highest quality that warbonnet has in all their products. Partway through a trip, I pitched my first hammock above a rock, it looked like I was clear of it, but when I lay down, it was just touching the bottom of the hammock. It was granite and tore a small hole through it, which a few months later became a large rip across the bottom. I’m 100% sure this would happen with any hammock in the same situation. But what wouldn’t happen, is the outstanding customer service which led to a complete replacement of my hammock. I upgraded to the Double layer 1.7 XLC which feels sturdier and isn’t much heavier. Warbonnet outdoors is the absolute best! Thank you! Also, I use the buckle straps and love ’em. Really, everything about this hammock is amazing. A+++++

This is the best most comfortable hammock I’ve used. I’m a stomach sleeper and I can sleep on my stomach in this hammock! Everthing about the BB XLC is great. Do yourself a favor and get the winter weather cover. Trust me it’s worth it. I actually don’t use the bug net that came with it. I keep the cover on all the time. For bug protection I use my eno bug Guardian …if it gets damaged I won’t feel so bad. It slips right over the ends of the hammock. This way I can deploy the net anytime and I don’t lose my shelf or solid cover. I also think the cover makes it stronger and you can get in and out easily. I wouldn’t suggest unzipping both covers as u may end up on the other side on the ground….guilty. I learned quick.
Watch all Brandon’s videos before you hang it an get in it! You can damage it if you’re not careful. I always make sure the net and cover toggles on the ends are properly attached and didn’t slip out, you will not like what happens if you don’t.
Set up is super easy after practice. Again watch the videos.
I did put my diy snake skins on it too …it helps keep it dirt free. I also use my undercover/quilt cover which gives me even more protection…all fits right in the skins and right in the double stuff sack. It’s a little tight but work nicely.
Thank you Brandon and Ryan for answering all my questions.

I purchased the double layer 1.7 XLC around 2 years ago and it is absolutely amazing. There cannot possibly be anything better as far as comfort, quality, ease of setup and use, and durability. I’ve went on numerous overnight camping trips with this wonderful piece of gear and it has become a must have when going into the woods. I can honestly say that I would rather sleep in it than in my bed at home and I am currently considering the possibility of setting it up in my bedroom.
The quality workmanship of the people at warbonnet is rare and something you won’t experience in many other places. Just yesterday I had a question about the fabric on my hammock(I had forgotten which type I had in my hammock) and they responded to me with everything I needed earlier this morning. There is just so much to say about this hammock and this company but you really can’t get the whole idea without buying one for yourself and getting the full experience this hammock offers.

Just got to use the Blackbird and super fly in Ohio for a week at the pathfinders gathering.
It all worked great.

Just bought and used Blackbird XLC and Superfly tarp on Black Forest Trail in PA. Easy to setup and tear down. Amazingly comfortable! Footbox really makes a difference (I’m 6’2″ 200). The option to use the door flaps on the Superfly came in very handy when needed and simple to tie back when not needed. The shelf in the hammock is a convenient feature that my fellow hammock goers were very jealous of. Would recommend these products to anyone, especially in comparison to the 2 other non-Warbonnet hammock/tarp products that my 2 fellow backpackers recently purchased. We all 3 agreed that the Warbonnet products were superior in comfort, quality, durability, and convenience!
Tormod Aunan Jørgensen –
I’ve had my Blackbird XLC for about a year now, and it is absolutely magnificent! Through the cold Norwegian winter, hot summer nights and in crazy bug territories, I’ve come to love my Blackbird! It is my most appreciated piece of outdoor gear and a best friend on every trip.
I bought the double layer 1.7 XLC with whoopies and tree straps. Which was a great decision!
Why? Because the whoopies are genious, the sleeping pad stays in one place, and with the increased weight tolerance we can easily be 2 people in it.
I’m a medium built guy at 180cm long(6 feet as you say in the US), and it is more than enough room for me in the hammock. I’m practically swimming in luxury.
Speeking of luxury, I can highly recommend buying the Superfly tarp with this hammock. The combination of the two is priceless!
I’m using this set-up on most of the trips with my friends, and I’m now defined as “The King”.
I think the nickname pretty much says it all.

Easy Set Up, Comfortable But Would Like Design Changes for My Application
Good News: I bought this for a through jungle hike in Guatemala. Set up was like 2 minutes which amazed the guides. It was also weather resistant with the mambajamba tarp, and another easy set up. The hammock was very comfortable and bug proof.
Bad News: This hammock was much hotter than the string hammock counterparts. Also since the foot box side of the hammock is higher, it made slinging my legs over that side uncomfortable. Finally, I’m a big guy, 6-6, and the ridge line was too low for my torso. If the hammock was 12′ instead of 11′ that would have raised up the ridge line a couple inches, which is all I needed. I stuck with the string hammocks on hot bug free nights, and used the warbonnet on chillier nights or when bugs were on the rampage. Actually a mosquito net with the string hammocks worked fine on hot buggy nights.

i have had my WBBB XLC for over 2 years and its been on numerous trips! the comfort, durability and versatility are 2nd to none. As stated, Brandon’s customer service is excellent as well. Last year in the smokies we endured an 11 hour downpour with a complete washout on the gound (soooo glad I wasn’t in a tent) and my SUPERFLY Tarp and XLC kept me bone dry! I’m 6’4 220lbs and this hammock fits great. Also, I don’t know how I’d live without the shelf as it holds tons more than you’d think. Great Value.
Brian Sherman –
My first hammock for backpacking, i was a fan of light weight tarp tents but finally graduated to a hammock because we bought my son one, and because it can be difficult to find ground space in some of the trails we hike here in Florida. I never expected some of the great benefits of hammock camping, or how much pack weight it can actually reduce. My Blackbird xlc is great, very comfortable, and I love that I can zip off the top for those days in camp that we just want to “hang” out for a while. Only a couple things I personally dont particularly care for… the “shelf” becomes more of a side pocket with any weight in it, it kind of sags over and rests against your side while laying in the tent. I tend to use it only for light things like a headlamp and some light reading material. The ridge lineis a far more suitable place for storing things that might be needed at night, such as a water bladder. The “shelf” on the other side is not usable as a shelf per say but it does add to head room for those who need extra space. The only other thing that might be a complaint was the tie off for the bug netting, on the inside of the hammock next to my knee, tends to tickle me when I am outside of the sleeping bag at night. This was a simple fix though, a good pair of scissors took it right off 😉 I do love this hammock though, the foot box is great, i love that I can zip off the netting, i sleep better in this hammock than i ever did in a tent, and for once I would rather get back in my hammock when i get back to my bed at home!

I got the BB-XLC for Christmas. My son had his 1st Scout campout since I got it… So I went along and absolutely love the hammock. A few of the other dads had to come over and check it out. Most said that will be on the “Father’s Day List”
Now I’m just waiting for WB to come out with the new Camo pattern for the SuperFly so I can get that.
Thanks and have no problem recommending your superior hammocks.

Extremely roomy. Easy and quick set up, very efficient. I recommend the warbonnet before any other brand i have looked into. This brand has much more to offer and quality seems much more dependable. Feels as if it could withstand the atom bomb.

Simply the best hammock I have ever seen. Got mine within a week. Awesome service! my son uses a hammock while hiking and inspired me to get one. I am a total newbie with them. However, I was able to set mine up under 5 mins. Never felt anything more comfortable. I am 5’10, 290lbs. The BB XLC is perfect, roomy and really well made. I got the double layer to support my weight, which it does without a problem. Can’t wait to hiking and use it. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to use a hammock!
Joshua Norman –
Quality and comfort are the two words that come to mind when I think about how to describe my new BB-XLC. I purchased the double layer 1.7 so I can lay with my pups or sit with my wife. The materials and construction are bullet-proof; definitely a top quality American made product. The hang is only slightly less comfortable than my tempurpedic mattress, it is like sleeping on a cloud that rocks back and forth ever so slightly, cradling you into a deep sleep. The site listed a week lead time I received mine in 3 days; kudos for fast shipping. My advice: if you are on the fence about spending ~$200 on a hammock, take the plunge and purchase it. Warbonnet products are handmade and of the highest quality. You won’t be disappointed!

Very easy to set up! Has a very comfortable hang.

I did a LOT of research online before taking the dive into my first backpacking hammock, and Brandon’s work has consistently been regarded as some of the best available. I’m VERY happy with the final product and I would (and do) highly recommend his work to anyone looking to get into hammock camping or looking to upgrade. The wait time for an order is absolutely worth it and should be seen as an indicator of the high demand and the attention to detail. I have nothing negative to report and I’ll be back to bring more of my family into hanging!

Just got my hammock this week and have only slept in the garage a couple of times but I hope to be on the trail soon. I bought this hammock to replace the two I currently use. I had a Hennessy for the summer and a Simply light tree runner double layer for winter. With the double layer warbonnet and the optional top cover I no longer need to choose between the others. With the foot box it has a spacious flat lay and it converts easily with the removable net to a traveler and winter shelter. My model has the strap suspension that is very easy to use. I have been using Atlas straps but these are replacing those too. .

Just returned from a 5 day backcountry fly fishing trip into the Bitteroot’s and couldn’t have been happier with the 1.1 double XLC. Weather varied from 90’s day time to low 40’s at night with a few rain showers several evenings. I paired the XLC with the standard 20 degree Yeti and Mamba quilts and felt it would be good the rated temps with no problem (I’m 5′ 10″ 160lbs). I covered 36 miles over the continental divide in 5 days and never had a bad nights sleep. Setup was quick, with the best sleep occurring by raising the foot end slightly. I varied sleeping position from back to sldes to curled up and had no issues, this hammock accommodates every position easily. The ease of getting in and out combined with the integrated bug net is perfect. The shelf easily stored my bearspray, waterbottle, and fleece outerwear. All construction was solid, Brandon produces a high quality product. His suggestions during the ordering process were quick and spot on. I’ve backpacked for over 30 years, I highly recommend the XLC, you won’t regret it.
Flatlander –
Ordered the XLC 1.1 double layer, lover the design and execution!
Don’t love the wait.
When I ordered the claim was 2 weeks on average, and even now reads 3. My hammock arrived at 4, and I’m still waiting on my Yeti under quilt. Next week will be 6 since I ordered.
Once it arrives, top notch. Just plan ahead if this is your sleep system to be.

The attention to detail is amazing on this product. I am more than happy with the finished product.

I started hammock camping 4 years ago and had bought what was sold locally and I liked it but found it a little limited and then tried a bridge type hammock and didn’t like it as much I had hoped but I could sleep comfortably in it. I had read all the reviews I could find on the blackbird XLC, and thought it would be a hammock that would meet my demands and work well for me in all fours seasons. It has met and exceeded all of my expectations and then some. Best hammock yet! I may buy another just to have one to sleep in my spare bedroom.
Anonymous –
My Blackbird XLC is my first camping hammock. I erected and slept in it very comfortably the first day I received. All in my shipment was as requested even including shifting the orientation of the Blackbird so the foot box was to the left.
I had read reviews indicating workmanship was to high standards and I believe this true.
I also have to mention the helpful advice that I received from Brandon both during my hammock selection and questions about hammock camping that I thought of waiting for my delivery.
All in all a truly excellent experience. I’ll come back to Warbonnet for future needs.
Tom Dudones –
Never tried hammock camping before, but after my first night in the Blackbird I was sold! It was so much more comfortable than my previous years of sleeping on a foam pad in my tent. The ease oand flexability of setup is also a plus. No more looking for a level clearing free of rocks and roots – just find a couple of trees and hang. Wish I had gotten one decades ago! Would never go back to tent camping .

Having Purchased the original Blackbird(dl 1.1) from Brandon about 2 years ago (it goes with me everywhere),it was time to add a second one to my collection;when i saw the redesign,i thought immediately more airflow coming through ,better visibility;living in South Florida, this will make a great Hammock to be used in those warm, hot ,humid days. This one i got in dl 1.7,this fabric feels so soft, the extra foot makes this Blackbird even more roomier;i’m 6’2 and have plenty of room in my original already.Well built as always.Thank you Brandon.

Running out of superlatives for Warbonnet gear. The XLC effectively addresses a few aspects of the standard model that were perhaps not optimal for some people. Increased size, smoothed foot box transition and head-shifted sweet spot and topless mode are all there along with all the Warbonnet quality and attention to detail. On the surface it would seem to reflect negatively on the standard Blackbird. But, make no mistake, I am 6’+ and I switch between sleeping in the XLC and the standard BB between one camping trip and the next and while I can notice a difference, I am sleeping great in either. Also, the standard is lighter, simpler and more compact. I do wish that Brandon could manage to sew a double zipper in the XLC, like on the standard.

First time hammock hanger. Lots of research and reading. Lots of recommendations to go WBBB XLC. I decided to go all in and buy the best and have really enjoyed it. Great quality setup. I like the simplicity of the webbing and cinch buckles and carabiners. 2 weeks after owning it, took it to Zions National Park and hiked the 2-day Narrows trip and took this hammock. Slept in it every night for 5 nights. Lots of room, easy to set up, very comfortable. Thanks Warbonnet.

Quicker than expected shipping just in time for a week long trip to the Sierras! My tent is staying home, maybe for good. I set up the XLC in a park near the house to get familiar and it took about 10 mins of hanging for me to realize…I love this hammock! I am 6’4″ and the XLC is perfect. I paired this up with a MJ and I am ready to rock. I will use a wool blanket underneath for now, but I see a UQ in my future.
The color is spot on for blending in to the forest. A nice earthy green. Thumbs up, recommended.

I had a chance to use my hammock for a week straight. I was in western MA and the weather was pretty crazy. We basically had 3 seasons in one week. Clear sunny and hot. Cool with decent winds. Then flat out cold with heavy winds and rain.
I had absolutely no trouble getting to sleep in this hammock. It is very comfortable.
I’m a pretty small guy 5’9″ 135 lbs. My girlfriend is also small. We actually had no problem at all sleeping together in the Blackbird XLC. It was still comfortable even with the two of us.
The double layer combined with mosquito netting kept us from being eaten up at night. The shelf held far more than I expected.
I really love this hammock. If solo camping or camping with my girlfriend I see no reason to bring a tent. This is far more comfortable.

At 67 years of age and nearly that long enjoying the wilder country, I am trying to go lighter and with smarter packing. Being off the ground (no tent), so that I can sit to put on my boots; makes me a much appreciative hammock camper.
I own almost every major brand name hammock sold. I even have an older WBBB. There is always something that just isn’t perfect for me. I ordered the XLC, because the bug net could be removed, the fabric top could be added, the lay is flatter, the length fits me better, and I trust the quality of WarBonnet.
I ordered the hammock just prior to a canoe trip in Algonquin Park. It arrived in time for me to set it up and enjoy its comfort a couple days before the trip.
No mistake here! Thank you, Brandon.

Service, quality, and performance have all been great! Would I recommend Warbonnet to another? Absolutely! I used to wake up (after sleeping on the ground) with a sore back every morning on the trail. After getting my hammock, no more back pain. It took a little getting use to sleeping in a hammock, but I will never go back to the ground.

I had been looking at hammocks for a while as an alternative to ground sleeping. I had even tried out my son’s ENO. After trying out the ENO, I was not so sure about hammocks. That one made me feel like a sausage. I read the reviews, checked the forums, e-mailed with Brandon and decided that I would like to give the Blackbird 1.7 xlc Double Layer a try. I ordered just as the fourth of July was approaching, so it took a little longer than I expected for it to arrive. I got the webbing suspension and watched the setup video (excellent video), then went into my yard for setup. I had it up and ready for action in about three minutes. I got into the hammock and could not believe how much room I had. The comfort was much greater than I expected. The design is amazing. I am looking forward to using this on the trail in Maine in August. This is an awesome product and the customer service is also outstanding.

I have the Double Layer 1.1 Blackbird XLC with whoopies. Hands down the best hammock that I have ever slept in. Way lighter than the competition and dramatically more spacious. The double layer is perfect for my torso length pad (it holds it in place with no slipping). You could very easily put a full length pad in there. Warbonnet’s craftsmanship is superb too.
My camping buddy actually returned his complete brand new setup (that he was very happy with) from a competitor after just one camp out and ordered the Warbonnet after testing mine out. It is truly that much better.
The only thing to be aware of is that if you get the whoopies you will need to get either 2 carabiners or use sticks and a couple hitches to maintain the adjustability of the whoopies. Not a big deal and still the lightest option even with some carabiners. The double ended silnylon stuffsac is a great thing. The shelf and footbox just take this hammock to the top level of perfect. I am no longer wasting time looking for a better sleep option because I already have the best.
My sincerest thanks to Brandon and Warbonnet for making this hammock!

Went from being a tent camper to a hammock. I traded weight for more comfort. Mr prior tent weighed in at 16 oz . I went for the Blackbird XLC 1.7 . Every ounce from my tent to the hammock is worth the weight difference in ease of set-up and comfort. I would recommend practicing the hang. I did not practice and regret the time it took on the trail. If you are a hiker in the Whites a Blackbird is the way to go. Never worry about finding a flat enough place to pitch a tent.
Alan Merigout –
I received my package in France from you to USA. No problem, impeccable.
I would like to thank you about the ” double-ended stuffsac “. (in silicone-nylon…..silnylon). MERCI . Mes remerciements sincères.
I really appreciate.
>>>The XLC;
What can i say….?
As i thought, excellent. (but a little more one time in hands….)
– The double layers fabric made in a very high quality (tissue). I have been impress when i examined it with my hands and eyes. Very comfortable for the skin, very solid, very well ” Taffetas ” building (threads assembling and weaving).
– Same for the mosquito net. (very good quality).
– The one all along zip is build in an excellent quality too. (strong and long time durable).
– Sewing about the hammock is very well make and solid/strong.
The hammock itself is very strong/solid; i tested it. (perfect for bush and travel, long travel…..old persons for comfort…..).
Finishing (double fabric layers+net mosquito+sewing+assembling) is very well make all around.
– The shelf is very usefull.
– The footbox is indispensable to sleep in diagonal and flat position, for comfort and to be relax with legs.
– Webbing/buckles that i took is a perfect system for me. (simple/quick/strong/effective).
And to finish;
The space room is really big enough.
I can sleep on the back, on the chest/stomach, on the left and right side with no problem with a high comfort level and space to move during the night or changing position.(really) (chest or stomach is my favorite position to sleep)(i do 1.80 meter and 72 kilogrammes) (70.3 inches and 31.8 LBS)
In my opinion, the warbonnet Blackbird is one of the best hammock (particularly the XLC) (to not say the best one). IMPRESSIVE HAMMOCK.
Thank you very much Warbonnet hammock, thank you Brandon Wally (and family).
Alan
Thanks.

At age 71 I was looking to get off the ground and have a lighter weight pack. My research indicated this might be the best choice. I just returned from a trip to the Colorado high country using my new hammock and superfly. The temperature dipped just below freezing one night. It was the most comfortable night I have had in recent memory. With a few practices at home following the videos I was able to set up with few problems. With more nights out I know I will be able to cut down on setup time. I am very pleased with this product and wish I had become a Warbonnet hanger earlier.

I wanted to try “Hammocking” instead of tent camping so I went out and purchased this hammock after discussing the different types with a few people I met on my travels over the years.
I am sold, If you need a bug screen and to be off the ground the hammock is the way to go. I will still go Tarp camping when I am in areas that will allow it to be done comfortably but this is another tool that I now prefer to the tent.
Set up takes about 5 mins when you first get it and then its down to seconds once you are out in the field.

Just received my XLC and have only had a chance to set it up in the yard so far, but the weekend looks promising. This sets up and lays as easily and comfortably as advertised. This is my 7th hammock and I already know it’s going to be my favorite. While some of my others are also quite comfortable, none are as easy to find that “sweet spot”. The shelf and ridgeline also provide more than enough space to store and organize those essential items. Can’t wait to use it on my next outing.
Christophe –
Took this out cold turkey on a 40 mile hike (2 nights). Ran into ZERO issues. It made setting up my camp super quick.
What a great alternative to a traditional tent. This hammock is the way to go. For someone who is concerned about the weight on his back, it’s insane how light this hammock is. The setup is super easy, takes all of 2 minutes. After a long day’s hike it is a pure joy to rest in this hammock. There is a ton of room. I am 6’3″, 205lbs. and I had more than enough room. The foot box and the small shelf for storing items is great. It’s so obvious once you get in this thing that it was engineered to just be pure awesome! Get one, I doubt you will have any regrets.
Make note, if you need stakes or extra guy line, order it up from the Accessories area of the site. It does not come with these extra accessories. You will want 2 stakes.
Customer service-man Brandon made sure I received the hammock before my trip, with some lead time.

Recently received my XLC and am very pleased. I chose the XLC for the craftsmanship, its roominess and the built in shelf (very handy). I selected the Whoopies as my suspension system and that system is amazing. No hardware to deal with and I think it packs easier. The quality of this product is exceptional and I am proud to own a quality American-made product. I have transitioned from being a tent camper and the BB XLC showed me the way. I can never go back, Thanks Warbonnet!

I am new to Warbonnet Hammocks; but I sure like quality built American Products. I think this is a prime example of that. The XLC Hammock so far has lived up to my high expectations, it is well designed and the construction is top notch. Set up is very easy and quick. I like the tree straps and buckles, they work very well even at my 270 lbs. Comfort is very good and I sleep well in it. I struggled a little reaching the zipper whe getting in and out; but I think that is because I’m old and Arthritic.

After a ton of research, I decided on this bad boy (paired with the Superfly). I had pretty high expectations for the hammock. It is just as great as ALL the high reviews and my expectations. Go with the XLC for sure! Furthermore, the Warbonnet instructional videos on YouTube are absolutely top notch which helped me learn how to use their products. I honestly don’t know of a better hammock than this. Tent camping days are over!! 🙂

This is my first camping hammock and I am very impressed with quality and craftsmanship as well as the outstanding customer service I received from Brandon. Thank you.
I went with the XLC 1.1 Double XLC on Brandon’s recommendation and I was not disappointed. The weight is perfect for my Backpacking needs. I took it out this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed my first night in a hammock in the backcountry. I slept so good. I woke up without the usual aches and pains normally associated with sleeping on the ground. I choose the Whoopie Sling suspension. It worked great. I need to tweak my set up a bit so that I lay at the perfect angle, but that will come with practice. The foot box is a nice feature. I am very happy with this hammock. Thanks Brandon.

First hammock owned. Have nothing to compare it to but just using it in the back yard since I got it has been a delight. Looking forward to hitting the trail with it. Very good quality and stores easily in the double ended stuff sack. Customer service has been fantastic. Every question I had was answered promptly; Even on a Sunday. I chose this model because of my height and reading all the reviews and forums. I like the craftsmanship so much, I think I will be buying my tarp and underquilt from Warbonnet as well.

Just wanted to take a moment thank you guys for what has instantly become my favorite piece of backpacking equipment.
Just returned from the Red River Gorge and I have to admit I don’t think I’ll ever sleep in a tent again. I ordered the Blackbird Double 1.7 XLC, with whoopie suspension and as this was my first hammock and I’m a big guy (6’2. 220) I was a little apprehensive that the moment I sat down the whole thing would let go. Not so. The craftsmanship is superior and thank you guys very much for delivering on every single feature that you advertised. I have never slept so comfortably in my life while camping!
You have a great product and obviously put me down as an extremely satisfied customer who will highly recommend WB products!

I really like the Blackbird Expert Craftsmanship great ideas with the foot box and storage area. For me what I noticed when I put my she’s in the storage pocket that it put pressure on my right side so I end having to store my shoes in the foot box area which seemed to work out better for me.I was wondering if adding a head pocket so that when laying in hammock you are laying diagonally across from head pocket to foot box and then having storage area would have a little more room thus not having pressure on right side of the shoulder area.I still believe that this is the best hammock in design that is out there.Service is excellent. Thanks Brandon for all your help.. I bought this for my son who is 350 miles into a NOBO 1,000 mile hike from Springer Mountain to Harper’s Ferry. He is tenting into Virginia and then I will meet him at Trail Days in Damascus, Va. where he will change over to this WB Blackbird XL. I am sure that he would go all the way to Kahatadin Mt.. Maine but he has to go to college August 15th and prior to that he has some things to do such as get three wisdom teeth removed, etc. I have slept in this hammock for 5 nights and I love it. It is a double layer and since we can’t afford an underquilt yet I slipped a CCF pad between the layers. That worked so much better than trying to do the same thing in our ENO hammocks and I love the protection of the mosquito (no-seeum) netting and the zipper is very convenient to use. I am impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of the hammock. This hammock is smaller than my ENO Doublenest XL but it is more comfortable. I am 6’3″ tall, 250 lbs. I thought that the “shelf” was sort of a gimmick but even when sleeping in my backyard I find it very useful as a convenient place to put my cell phone, flashlight and eye glasses. There is room for much more than those items there.
I ordered this hammock expecting a 2-3 week shipping date but it shipped within a week and I received it about 10 days after placing the order. Seldom do I order something in this price range without physically inspecting the item first but I placed confidence in many positive reviews I read on the internet. The downside to this is I am going to have to get one for myself now.

I have to admit that I am not a big sleeper in general. After breaking my back in a motorcycle accident I have really never gotten comfortable to sleep … Till now! The hammock sleeping is easier, more comfortable and just plain fun! I am enjoying being out in the woods overnight again and really have enjoyed the Blackbird XLC. Brandon was absolutely wonderful to deal with, glad there are still people who place value in their customer service!
Hats off to the product and the business. I am telling everyone in East Tennessee about your product, I am hoping my riding buddies pick up and leave their tents behind.

I am new to this hammock thing, but I got the right one for me. The double bottom makes it simple to put an insulating pad in, and the netting keeps unwanted pests out. As a life long camper (66), I can say that this beats the ground hands down. And it packs well on my motorcycle. Seems to be a well made product and I am going to enjoy it.

I loved both the RR and BB XLC, but can only keep one of them. I am 6 foot 4,250 lbs. and the BB XLC is a great fit. The large diagonal asymmetric design gives nearly as flat of a lay as the RR only with more room and less side pressure. Setting the head lower than the foot is like reclining back in my favorite easy chair; legs elevated, slight bend at hip and knees. It is comfortable through the hips with only the lightest side compression and foot box had no annoying calf pressure line. This thing is a dream come true; I don’t sleep well under the best conditions, and I enjoy going on outings, but I would dread the night, even resorted to heavy bulky gear, i.e. tent, cot, bed roll, cumbersome under the best conditions and impossible all the rest. Absolutely worth the money and the best comfort/convenience to weight/price ratio, you will not be disappointed, 60 day return policy and excellent customer service.

I’m new to hammock camping and after a lot of research on hammockforums.net I chose the XLC. I’m very glad I did. This hammock is easy to set up, incredibly comfortable, and chocked full of very useful features like the footbox (don’t think I could sleep in a hammock that doesn’t have this now that I’m spoiled), storage shelf, and ability to remove or interchange the netting and top cover. The one piece of advice I’ll add, is if you are on the fence about the top cover and do any cold weather camping, don’t think twice. It is worth the money and then some. It easily adds 20 degrees without doing anything. I’m always amazed at how cold it is out when I unzip the thing because I was lounging comfortably inside.
The bottom line here is the XLC is money well spent. Brandon was helpful throughout my shopping process and there is not a stitch out of place on any of the products I ordered from him.

I’m new to hammock camping but i’m on my third hammock and this is by far the best I’ve tried. extremely well built and attention to detail is confidence inspiring. I recommend the xlc to all my friends. If you want a durable and super comfortable product look no further.

After a couple of months of research i decided on the warbonnet blackbird XLC because of my height for one and all the features. The double layer makes it perfect to slide a pad to keep the cold air off you back at night. The shelf holds your shoes, keys, and self defense items at arms reach. I also ordered the winter cover with it and it matched up perfect with no issues taking it on and off. I had it set up at a family birthday party for my sister and her husband to see (they love back packing and currently used cheaper hammocks). They couldn’t believe the quality and how functional every item was on it. They went home and ordered 2 blackbirds and absolutely loved them. It’s hard to make the decision for some people to invest in this type of hammock especially without being able to touch and see it in person. I will tell you that there craftsmanship and all the added features of this hammock compared to others is amazing.

I use to have hennessy hammack and it worked ok, but couldn’t be comfortable aspecely my knees, and didn’t like the one layer.
I love the blackbird xlc, great craftsmen ship , love the dubble layer, love the simplicity of the wobbing buckles, much better for my knees and awesome smart disign!
One thing it little bit bulky compare to the hannessy hammock with the snakeskin, I wish Warbonnet will start making snakeskin it genius.
Have to say customer service it’s amazing! Thanks Brandon

I only give this product 4 stars because its the first and only hammock I had slept in. After weeks of research I came across the BBXLC and went for it. Let me say I was not disappointed. You can not beat American made products. Even though shipping said 2-3 weeks out mine shipped with in a few days. With this being my first hammock it took a few mins to find “the sweet spot”. When I did it felt as if I was sleeping in the clouds. Slept sound the whole night and when I got home I could not get comfortable in my own bed haha. Spend the extra money! You’re buying American and can you really put a price tag on a good night sleep? Keep up the good work Warbonnet!!

I’m 6’1″ and 190lbs and debated between the Blackbird and the XLC. Went with the XLC and glad I did! Plenty roomy and having not seen one in person I was going mostly off reviews and Hammock forum recommendations on size. Ordered and counted the days till arrival, having reservations since it was an educated guess at best. Versatility was probably the number one factor in my decision, I do some winter camping in Northern CA and here in Hawaii. on arrival i set it up on my lunch break in the park nearby and was immediately reassured that I made the right choice as I chilled in the breeze without the top and knew that I will be appreciating the bug netting with the mosquitos. Having the solid top for that few extra degrees warmth in my upcoming trip will be a big plus. All with one system! I’ve had ENO, grand trunk and Hennessey hammocks and the Blackbird XLC combines all the best of my previous hammocks in one. Love this Hammock. even after just one quick hang. Double ended stuff sack is great too! Excellent workmanship and whoopee sling option was well worth it! I went with double 1.1 material and it is a very nice lightweight package. I can’t wait for many more hangs to come!

I have been trying many different hammocks and this is the first one that I have found to be not only extremely comfortable but also WARM! I have been trying to find a reasonably priced hammock, that is comfortable, for four season use and the Double layer 1.7 Blackbird XLC w/cover is it! I look forward to taking it out on the trail often and truly enjoy my night’s rest. The cover that you can zip onto the hammock is just enough to retain heat without it becoming stifling, use it with a tarp and you are set. The built in ridge line of Blackbird series of hammock is great because it allows you to put everything up without really guessing if the hammock is too tight or too loose. The quality of everything is top notch and it arrived quickly. Not only would I buy another one if I need to, my brother has tried the hammock and is going to buy himself one, if not more for his family if they get more into camping.

This is hands down the most comfortable hammock I have ever slept in. Brandon has really designed this for comfort. The foot box and shelf are ingenious along with the tie outs. The added length and availability of converting the hammock for summer and winter conditions to include netting, a top cover or none at a moments notice is perfect. If you are looking for comfort and versatility then this is the one for you.

This company is a a perfect example of why we need more small business in this country. The product service and communication is great. My wbbb xlc is better than advertised with every stitch in place. The nylon used is high quality smooth and durable. The bug netting is also high quality and fits very well with a full zipper that does not bind. I have the buckle suspension that is very simple and not fiddly. The shelf is awesome and stays out of the way. The only thing this hammock does not have is cup holder lol. The stuff sack is open on both ends for easy deployment and is made of sil nylon. Overall if you look at this and want to know if the money is worth it… then yes it is. My 60 dollar hammock does not compare And has been retired.

Great 4 season hammock I have also used various other hammock and the weight pack size and durability of this hammock is incredible only two small improvements would make this hammock even more amazing.
1. Make the zipper two zippers so You can get out both sides of the hammock.
2. Include the foot box fabric In the actual hammock instead of the bug net or top cover for a more comfortable lay when just using the hammock.
I am very pleased with this product and it may even be competing with my bed at home if I can find a good stand for it.
Great job war bonnet. Good work keep it up
